As the Catawba Two Kings Casino becomes closer to reality, organizers will host a two-day job fair in Shelby.
The business aims to fill 200 positions to run the temporary gaming facility slated to open this summer.
The Catawba Nation announced in March plans to fast-track the opening of the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort in Kings Mountain by opening a “pre-launch” facility with 500 slot machines.
The pre-launch facility, which will be constructed using prefabricated modular structures, will provide an initial opportunity for patrons to gamble with limited food and beverage and other guest amenities.
An introductory facility, part of the permanent casino, will follow with 1,300 slot machines.
The 200 initial jobs will increase to a total of 2,600 once the resort is complete which is expected to be built in phases, according to the Catawba Nation.
Positions to be filled during the job fair include finance, marketing and surveillance, cage personnel, drop team members, slot techs and attendants, housekeeping personnel, security staff, bartenders, cocktail servers, culinary and guest service representatives and various supervisory positions.
Full-time positions include health, dental and vision medical plans, life insurance coverage, paid vacation and a 401(k) retirement savings plan.
“This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career and be part of an exciting gaming and hospitality operation,” said Chuck Kilroy, who is leading the efforts of Delaware North, the Catawba Nation’s consultant on the project. “We encourage local residents to come and apply for these positions in this growing business.”
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have two valid forms of identification. Those who come out are encouraged to bring a resume and be prepared to fill out an application and be interviewed.
Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort is being developed by the Catawba Nation at a 17-acre site at 538 Kings Mountain Blvd. in Kings Mountain.
In addition to jobs at the resort, the $273 million project is funding thousands of construction jobs in the region, according to casino officials.
The job fair will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, at the Cleveland Community College Event Center, 1800 E. Marion St., Shelby.
